Precautions while carrying DRI -
1. Cargo spaces to be maintained in an inerted condition with Oxygen less than 5% and hydrogen content to be lesser than 1%
2. DRI to be manufactured and treated with oxidation inhibiting process to the satisfaction of the competent authority
3. Hold to be dried and clean without any presence of water traces. Wooden fixtures and combustible materials to be removed
4. Prior loading the shipper to give a certificate issued by the competent person stating the Moisture content, Particle size and temperature of the cargo
5. MSDS shall be kept ready
6. Personnel protection from the cargo dust
7. Bilges to be working and bilge well to be clean and dry
8. NO SMOKING signs to be placed
9. Weather tightness of the hatch covers to be checked
10. Cargo to be trimmed properly
11. Do not accept cargo with temperature greater than 65 degrees and moisture greater than allowable
12. Monitor cargo temperatures and log down
13. Monitor Hydrogen concentration regularly
