In accordance with SOLAS, Bulk carriers of 150 mtrs in length and above, carrying cargoes having density of 1780 kg/m3 and above and not withstanding flooding of any one cargo hold, shall not be allowed to sail with any hold loaded to less than 10% of the total cargo capacity of the hold, after reaching 10 years of age, in a full load condition. The full load condition here means 90% of ship's deadweight. Such ships shall be permanently marked with an equilateral triangle with sides 500 mm. This triangle shall be placed 300 mm below deck line.
