IMO has established a Stowaway Focal Point. It has been set up as a result of INTERCARGO / INTERTANKO submission to the IMO facilitation committee
It offers help by facilitating diplomatic assistance to enable disembarkation of stowaways in circumstances where the existing processes have been attempted but not have successfully resolved the problem. This is intended to help the Master’s and Owners to attempt faster and humanitarian repatriation of stowaway
Its main function is to provide assistance towards successful and expeditious resolution of stowaways cases by facilitating communication and fostering cooperation between relevant public authorities of the Member states and with Company and Master of the ship concerned.
