Particularly Sea Sensitive Areas or PSSA is an area that needs special protection through action by IMO because of its significance for recognized socio-economic, ecological or scientific reasons and because it is vulnerable to damage by international maritime activities.
Examples of PSSA are: Great Barrier Reef, Sabana Camaguey Archipelago, Cuba, Malpelo Islands Canada, Wadden sea, sea around florida keys, western European waters.
