Hazards of DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) -

1. Direct Reduced Iron is liable to oxidize producing heat in large amounts when kept in open air. The sponge like structure of DRI aids in rapid heating in isolated pockets
2. Direct reduced Iron, when comes in contact with water, produces hydrogen which is highly explosive and can cause fatal explosion.
