During the registration process of a ship, As per the Merchant Shipping Act, when the official number has been allotted to the ship, name of the ship has been approved and certificate of survey has been granted by the surveyor, the registrar issues a CARVING AND MARKING NOTE to the owner.
This Carving and Marking note has to be returned to the Registrar once the Carving and Marking has been completed to the satisfaction of the surveyor.
